DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: On arrival at Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in a private car. 
Overnight hotel accommodation 

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City. This morning you will have a private sightseeing tour to Cu-Chi tunnels, an immense network of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam war. Return to Saigon in the afternoon for lunch.  The rest of the day will be at your own leisure.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City. Today you will have time to explore Ho Chi Minh City on your own and experience the culture. (Optional tour on a vintage Vespa as a pillion passenger. A great way to see the city like a local)

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh - Hoi An Meet your driver and guide this morning for a private transfer to Ho Chi Minh airport for a flight to Danang.  Upon arrival in Danang, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Hoi An.  Hoi An is a small town on the coast of South China Sea in central Vietnam.  It is home to approximately 25,000 people.

Day 5: Hoi An. Today you will have the full day at Leisure in Hoi An.  Take a visit to the numerous art and craft shops and tailors, who produce made-to-measure clothes for a fraction of the price in Australia. Several cafés, bars and restaurants have opened along the riverfront. Some popular evening venues with visitors are Tam Tam's restaurant and bar and the Mango restaurant.

Day 6: Hoi An Your final day of leisure in Hoi An will allow you to discover many more things that this charming town has to offer.  Entry to all historical sites in Hoi An is via a coupon system, where US$5 gets you a ticket that can be used to enter five attractions: one museum, one family house, one Chinese meeting hall, the art performance theater and either the Japanese Covered Bridge or the Quan Kong Temple. Tickets are sold at various entry points into the Old Town, including Hai Ba Trung St.

Day 7: Hoi An - Hue This morning you will meet your driver and guide for your day trip up to Hue.  En route you will visit the Cham Museum and Marble Mountains. The hills loom out of the surrounding coastal plain and feature a group of Buddhist temples built into caves a popular pilgrimage site for locals.  Lunch will be enjoyed en-route.  You will arrive in Hue in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.

Hue is the former Capital of Vietnam is intimately connected to the imperial Nguyen Dynasty who ruled from 1804 to 1945, when the Emperor Bao Dai abdicated in favour of Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary government. The Perfume River runs through Hue with the old city and the Citadel on the north side and the newer city, on the south side. Much of the riverside has been done up as a pleasant promenade where you can stroll in the evening and mingle with the locals.

Day 8: Hue Touring This morning you will meet your driver and guide for a full day of touring around Hue.  Your day will start with a cruise along the Perfume River.  Visits this morning will include several tombs of members of the Imperial Dynasty, many of which are elaborately decorated with some fascinating mosaics within their sprawling complexes.  You will also visit Thien Mu Pagoda, 4 km from Hue. Perched on a bluff over the river and housing some very fine gold and silver Buddha images.

After lunch you will visit the Imperial Citadel, the former imperial seat of government and Hue's prime attraction, this is a great sprawling complex of temples, pavilions, moats, walls, gates, shops, museums and galleries, featuring art and costumes from various periods of Vietnamese history.

Day 9: Hue - Hanoi Your driver and guide will meet you in the hotel lobby for your private transfer to the airport.  Your flight from Hue to Hanoi takes approximately 1 Hour.  On arrival you will be met again and transferred to your hotel.  The remainder of the day will be at leisure for you to discover the many things that the charming city of Hanoi has to offer.  Be sure to visit the old quarter as well as the Water puppets and the many beautiful parks and lakes scattered throughout the city.

Day 10: Hanoi.Today you will have time to explore Hanoi on your own. (Optional Tour: Take a half day cyclo tour of Hanoi to visit some of it's historical landmarks)

Day 11: Hanoi - Halong Bay. This morning you will be met at your hotel by your driver and guide to make your way for the 2 hour drive to Halong City.  On arrival you will board the "Ginger" or the "Jasmine" junks, two of the most prestegious boats on the bay, for yor overnight cruise through Halong Bay.  The bay was World Heritage listed by UNESCO in 1998 and it is one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations.

Halong Bay consists of a dense cluster of 1,969 limestone monolithic islands which rise spectacularly from the ocean. Each is topped with thick jungle vegetation,  Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves. Your cruise may stop at the largest cave in the bay, Hang Dau Go (Wooden stakes Cave). Its three large chambers contain large numerous stalactites and stalagmites (as well as 19th century French graffiti).  Your cruise will also take you past some of the floating villages inhabited by local fishermen and their families.

Many of the islands have acquired their names as a result of interpretation of their unusual shapes: such names include Voi Islet (elephant), Ga Choi Islet (fighting cock), and Mai Nha Islet (roof). 989 of the islands have been given names. Birds and animals including bantams, antelopes, monkeys, and iguanas also live on some of the islands.

This evening you will get the chance to have a swim in the bay or enjoy a drink on the deck of the boat and afteward sit down to a lovely Vietnamese meal prepared by the crew on board the boat.

Day 12: Halong Bay. After breakfast, transfer to your day trip boat with private crew and cruise to the to the bay's most untouched area.  Enjoy swimming on quiet beaches, visiting water tunnels, fishing villages or kayaking.  Lunch served on board by your private chef.  Return to the mother boat for the night. (Optional Tour: Dinner in cave at additional cost)

Day 13: Halong Bay - Luang Prabang. Wake up early for breakfast on board the boat and continue your cruise around Halong Bay, returning to Halong City around lunch time.  You will have some time to purchase some lunch before meeting your driver and transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Luang Prabang.  On arrival at Luang Prabang you will be met and transferred to your hotel in a private car.  Luang Prabang is a city located in north central Laos, on the Mekong River about 425kmn north of Vientiane.  The current population of the city is about 103,000.

Day 14: Luang Prabang. You will have your own time to discover Luang Prabang.  Luang Prabang has both natural and historical sites.  Among the natural tourism sites, there are the Kuang Si Falls and Pak Ou Caves.  Tourists may also ride elephants.  At the end of the main street of Luang Prabang is a night market where stalls sell shirts, bracelets, tea and suitable souvenirs.  The Haw Haw Kham Royal Palace Museum and the Wat Xieng Thong temple are among the most well known historical sites.

Day 15: Luang Prabang - Siem Reap. You will be met by your driver and guide at the hotel who will transfer you to Luang Prabang Airport for your flight to Siem Reap.  Upon arrival in Siem Reap you will again be met by your driver who will transfer you to your hotel in a private car.

Day 16:  Siem Reap. Today you will have your own time to explore Siem Reap.  Angkor Archaeological Park is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia and the amazing remains of some capitals of the Kher Empire between 9th and 15th century. These include the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations and the famous Temple of Angkor Wat.

Day 17: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh After breakfast, you will be met by your driver and guide at the hotel where you will be transferred to Siem Reap Airport for your flight to Phnom Penh which will take approximately 1 hour.  When you arrive in Phnom Penh, you will again be met by your driver and guide who will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 18: Phnom Penh. Today you will have your own time and explore Phnom Penh.  Visit attractions such as The Royal Palace, National Museum, Silver Pagoda, Wat Phnom, Wat Ounalom, Koh Dach, Wat Nokor and other historical sites.

Day 19: Depart Phnom Penh. After breakfast you may have a some time to explore Phnom Penh further before you will be transferred to Phnom Penh airport for your forward flight.
